Welcome to the Clare County Road Commission website

Our goal is to maintain the county’s roads year round in a condition reasonably safe and convenient for travel. If you come across an unsafe condition such as a stop sign knocked down, a tree blown across a road, or other condition requiring immediate attention, report it to us at (989)539-2151, or during non-business hours to the Clare County Sheriff’s Office at (989)539-7166.

This website is intended to provide you with information common to our operations, but please do not hesitate to call us at (989) 539-2151 if you cannot find what you’re looking for and a friendly voice will be glad to help. We are located at 3900 E. Mannsiding Rd., - 5 miles south of Harrison at the Mannsiding Road/Lake George Exit off US-127, in case you need to visit our office.

As a courtesy to Michigan Dept. of Transportation, the Clare County Road Commission has bags and vests available for pick-up at our office located at 3900 East Mannsiding Road, Harrison, MI. Once you have completed your pick-up, please try to stack your bags in a central area and notify the road commission of the number of bags you have and where they are located.

  1. The annual Brush Spray Program is scheduled to begin August 3 2020, and to be completed by September 30, 2020. Weather permitting.

  1. Spraying is typically done on a rotating schedule with ¼ of the county being sprayed each year. This year the Northwest quadrant will be done (Winterfield, Greenwood, Redding and Summerfield Townships)
  1. The contractor this year is Dalton’s
  1. Residents who do not wish to have the property in front of their homes sprayed must fill out a “NO SPRAY” permit at our office at 3900 East Mannsiding Road, Harrison, MI. 48625, before July 30 , 2020. At that time the “NO SPRAY “signs will be issued, to be placed on your property.
  1. The herbicides that will be used have been approved by the Department of Agriculture. They are safe to use around humans and animals. They are designed to work on enzymes found in plants only. The herbicides enter the plant through the stems and leaves and control the plant from inside.
  1. Please be aware the No Spray Zone vegetation must be controlled to Clare County Road Commission’s (CCRC) standard prior to spray application. Otherwise CCRC retains the right to spray vegetation in the Road Right of way.
